Campus 2.0

Klubben Lives On: Our Beloved Bar in a New Home

admin

One thing we’ve all been wondering is, what happens to Klubben? “Klubben”, the legendary Friday bar at
BSS, has been the heart of our social life – from packed quiz nights to those unforgettable parties. Fear
not: Klubben is coming with us to the new campus, and we are bringing the bus!

According to AU’s plans, “the well-known student bar Klubben will be continued in new premises in Universitetsbyen, housed in the basement of building 1832.” In other words, once we move, Klubben simply changes address, not spirit. If you’re not familiar yet: Klubben is run by us here at Studenterlauget and is essentially our faculty bar/hangout, traditionally located at Fuglesangs Allé. It’s where you celebrate end of exams, meet classmates for Friday beers, and generally blow off steam.

The great news is that in Campus 2.0, Klubben will have a freshly outfitted space, presumably with all the charm (and maybe even better equipment) than before. And being in University City means it’s closer to other campus action, and next door neighbors might even drop in, expanding our party crowd, since the tunnels leads you right to the Klubben entrance.

Alongside Klubben, Konverterbar, another student bar (often frequented by Economics students), is
also getting a new spot – it will be located in building 1812 in University City. So both major BSS
social venues survive the move. These dedicated spaces for student nightlife are so important for
maintaining our faculty identity and camaraderie.

AU has cleverly designed them to be multi-use: the areas can also be used as student lounge/study environments in the daytime. Imagine that – by day, perhaps a cozy place to study or have group work, and by night, it transforms into the buzzing bar we know and love.
For current students, rest assured that your Thursday/Friday traditions will continue uninterrupted. And
for new students arriving to campus: you have some epic times to look forward to. Studenterlauget is
already dreaming up a “Klubben grand opening” event when the new bar space is ready – trust us, it
will be one for the books. We’ll finally get to see what Klubben 2.0 looks like and make it ours with new
memories.

A shameless plug: if you enjoy Klubben and all the social activities, consider volunteering or joining our team at Studenterlauget. We always need help to run the bar and organize parties, and it’s a fantastic way to meet people (not to mention, volunteers often get perks like free entry or drinks). As we transition to the new campus, we’ll need creative minds to help carry on the traditions in a new setting – your ideas and energy can shape how these spaces feel.

Bottom line: Campus 2.0 is bringing shiny new buildings, we’re bringing the soul an fun of Klubben (and the bus). New cleaner basement, same old fun. We’ll see you at the new Klubben for a beer – first round’s on us!
