With the move, we are gaining a big fancy auditorium. This bulding is going to house up to 800 students. The upper floor will be hosting lectures. Meanwhile the bottom floor will house a canteen, study places and the likes. Just like the S building right now on Fuglesangs Allé.
Among the modern buildings rising in University City, one stands out – the Round Auditorium. This
large circular auditorium hall, currently under construction, is poised to become the architectural
landmark of Aarhus BSS in our new campus . If you’ve seen the renderings, you know it looks impressive: a cylindrical structure with a sleek facade, situated on the central plaza of University City. It’s designed not only to host lectures and events, but also to be an inviting gathering point for students.
For us in BSS, the round auditorium is symbolic. In Fuglesangs Allé, big auditoriums were a bit isolated; now our flagship auditorium will sit right in the hub of campus activity. The building’s eye-catching circular form and modern design will make it instantly recognizable – a bit like how the old main building with the clock tower is iconic for AU in University Park, the round auditorium will be a new icon for BSS. In fact, AU has described it as “a landmark for Aarhus BSS in Universitetsbyen.”
What can you expect inside?
State-of-the-art lecture facilities, for sure – think comfortable seating, great acoustics, and top-notch AV equipment for everything from massive first-year lectures to guest conferences.
But equally exciting is the space around it: the auditorium is surrounded by terraced steps
and open areas on the plaza, which will be perfect for informal hangouts, outdoor study when the weather’s nice, or even events like mini-concerts or fairs. It’s designed to be inviting at all hours, contributing to that 24/7 campus life. Students can sit on the steps or roundtables with coffee, or crowds gathering there during campus celebrations and other SL parties.
The Round Auditorium is scheduled to be completed during the campus move timeline (likely by 2025–
26). This building will be the pride of BSS and a spot you’ll know well during your studies. We can’t wait to experience the energy of BSS united in one great hall with all of you guys!
